We are so proud to support the LSSVI again this year! They run an incredible program supporting almost everything, and they do it with grace and love. Although we usually support their Queen Louise Home for Children (a residential foster care program), their projects benefit a very large scope of additional needs including care for adults and seniors and the Lutheran Disaster Response effort.
"Lutheran Social Services of the Virgin Islands is the largest private child and family services agency in the U.S. Virgin Islands. We offer a variety of programs and services for children and adults in need. Our enduring commitment is to “serve one another with love.” LSSVI provides homes, health and emotional care as well as outreach services for the community. Our priorities include: child welfare, crisis intervention, services for the seniors, programs for individuals with disabilities and family enrichment. "
The Queen Louise Home has been serving the Territory's neglected and abused children since the creation of its very first service program. In addition to serving as residential foster care, they also offer tutoring, recreational activities and guidance in skill development. Within the Queen Louise Home is the Sister Emma Cottage that provides care for children and adults with severe developmental and physical disabilities. And they continue their good work for children with an early head start program that serves a total of 120 children, families and pregnant woman.
Oasis International Ministry
We have granted funds to the Oasis International Ministry to support its Pastor William "Brother Bill" Huckel and his efforts.
Green VI, British Virgin Islands
Green VI is an environmental not for profit located in the British Virgin Islands with a vision of a cleaner, greener and prosperous BVI, in which a balance is maintained between development and conservation of the natural environment. Their mission is to demonstrate the principles and benefits of sustainable living in the beautiful BVI - through education and practical projects along the themes of waste, education, energy and water.
Our support has gone to overall program management and administrative costs to support the executive director's consultation efforts, various programs and education efforts and outreach.
Queen Louise Children's Home
Queen Louise children's Home is now part of the Lutheran Social Services of the Virgin Islands. Their mission is to express Christian love and care to the community through social service.
